About Us

Who's who at Bespoke

Cassidy

Bespoke's owner and benevolent despot. He finds few things as enjoyable as getting his hands dirty and making things work. He is tickled by the insouciance of wearing a dress shirt while doing so.
In 2008, after several years as a mechanic in an assortment of other shops on two coasts, he discovered that his great-grandfather, George Collett, had also been in the business. George started out as a track and event racer, and went on to open a bicycle shop in New Haven, Connecticut, around 1902. With history apparently on his side, Cassidy opened Bespoke's doors in April 2009.

Jon

General manager and man-about-town. Knows what he's talking about, bikes-wise, and can eyeball fitting to the millimeter like nobody's business. Co-founder of the Brooklyn Gentlemen's Randonneur Club.
He spends most of his time killin' it.

Jennifer

Inventory manager. Still learning what America is all about, after spending a long time in France. She knows how to lead a bike tour, let me tell you. And just as important, she knows what wine will go with that.

Matt

Prefers not to be photographed. Actually, we just couldn't find any images of him on Google, so we'll get his mug on here soon. Imported from the wilds of Northern California. Likes Dylan, man. Doesn't care for Coldplay.

Thomas

Our newest addition, and now our head mechanic. Thomas hails from Florida, and is himself a one-time shopkeep, having been co-owner of Keirin Cycles in Miami Beach. Not only that, but as far as we can tell, he invented a sport. Or maybe he didn't invent it. We don't know. If it doesn't have wheels, it doesn't make much sense to us anyway.

Autumn brings great riding weather, and great scenery.

However, it also brings more free time around the shop. Our wait for repairs is shorter than it's been in months. This is a good time to get your bike checked out and prepped for winter. Some suggestions:

  • Wider tires make it easy to keep riding through all kinds of weather.
  • Fenders help keep you dry and warm.
  • New cables and housing, brake pads, and thorough lubrication will keep you rolling smooth until spring.
